    Miguel is a qualified Guatemalan lawyer based in Guatemala City. He joined Jurisglobal in 2018.

    His legal expertise

    After 16 year of practice, in various Law firms specialized in project finance, corporate and tax law, assisting domestic as well as foreign companies, and as in-house lawyer for APSA, Central America’s largest steel provider, Miguel set up his own Law firm Bores, Valladares and Partners in 2019.
    Throughout the years, Miguel has acquired an extensive expertise in Project finance, Corporate Law as well as mediation, collaborative process and arbitration.

    Miguel has developed an extensive experience in the regulatory framework and access to the European market for companies in Guatemala and throughout the region. This enables him to assist his clients, companies based in Guatemala or in South America, in growing trade relations using Agreement Partnership, Political Coordination and cooperation between Member States of the European Union and Central America, as well as the existing legal and financial instruments.

    A strength for our Jurisglobal Network is that as well as being well established in South America, Miguel has also acquired experience in other parts of the world, and Paris especially, as Member of the Paris Bar in 2011, former Consul for Guatemala in Paris, Former member of the Permanent Guatemalan Delegation to UNESCO and a Guatemalan Counsellor to the Organization of American States.

    Academic background

    Miguel studied at the University Francisco Marroquin in Guatemala, where he graduated in 2002. He then attended the University Paris Sorbonne in France, where he graduated with a Masters’ degree (L.L.M.) in French and European Law (2004).

    Miguel holds a Masters’ degree (L.L.M.) in international business and economic law from Georgetown University in Washington D.C (2012).
